Hurry, hurry! There’s still time to catch this disjointed group of mostly sculptural artworks (even the paintings have dimensional elements) that shouldn’t really fit but somehow all just look better together. It’s a chocolate & peanut butter with a dab of sea salt kinda show. Across three rooms the hang is careful and reserved, giving everyone their own space while introducing just enough dialogue to make lesser works more engaging and the overall experience greater than the sum of its parts.

Anne Carney Raines (@annecarneyraines) makes oil on linen look like cutout paper dioramas, and Anthony Banks (@4nthony8anks) has set one of his works inside an old tea serving tray. That’s why those two new names (to me, at least) distracted me away from three artists I’ve previously praised and had gone to see again: Christina Lucia Giuffrida (@christinaluciagiuffrida_), Grace Tobin (@gracetobinart) and Jess Allen (@jessallenartist). If none of those float your boat then you’ve got four more to choose from in this 9-artist group show.

We all doom scroll, but Alina Frieske (@almafrie) turns it into a productive endeavour. She’s constantly mining the internet for snippets of images that she cuts, crops and carefully catalogs into a collection of colour swatches. Be sure to browse the book in the gallery to see page after page of her samples. They’re eventually used to create original collage imagery and while the final visuals don’t do much for me, they’re an impressive achievement and the overly obsessive process blows my mind.

Miniature sandbox playgrounds humourously subvert the idea of a tabletop Zen Garden, but the real surprise from Yuki Nakayama (@yukinakayama.art) is the giant version she’s created in Tracey Emin’s former lap pool. And that’s the problem I had traversing this venue: it’s hard not to be distracted by the fact that minimalist Kandinsky tributes have been hung in a million-pound YBA sauna, and I left thinking more about the property porn than I did about the art.

Some of these appear to be Le Corbusier shape and space studies, though most look like obscure engine replacement parts that take 8-12 weeks on backorder from Germany. Whatever they are, I wouldn’t have guessed that Vincent Fecteau created them out of papier-maché. Despite the sinuous curves that draw your eyes towards their beguiling negative space, I assumed these were metal, or cement, or possibly even plaster casts. I had a lot of fun peering inside these from every possible angle.
